No doubt, you have been reading quite a lot about the scandals of the Church and the upcoming Vatican summit on clerical abuse. Theories are flying about in every direction as to what the exact causes of the scandal might be. Some of these theories are awful. I’m grateful to John Zmirak for this endorsement of my book as a resource for understanding the true nature of the crisis. That’s why I wrote the book in the first place—because a convincing defense of the Church was sorely needed. And now more than ever.
If you haven't read this book, you have nothing worth saying on the sex abuse crisis. Period. https://t.co/WIOQ2V4Br0

It’s important to remember that bad theories turn into to bad reform plans—plans that won’t solve our crisis. We shouldn’t let some pundit off the hook when he says something irresponsible and just plain dumb. For we endanger the Church and our children with bad, unchallenged theories. That’s why everyone needs to speak up and debate these important questions.
I’ve got more to say about the abuse scandal and the prospects for effective reform. Look for it to be published soon. It goes beyond the research of my book into the history of how we got into this mess. I believe that such an historical analysis can show us how to get out. Coming soon! JG
