I think Bishop Barron really sums up the Advent message perfectly.  If you have been doing the rosary journal project with us, I think you will agree with my assessment because the Mass readings really do communicate the theme that Barron speaks about: our complete dependence on Christ for salvation.  Take a look at his video below:
