The much anticipated papal document on the Amazon Synod was published today. Early reports are saying that the document stays away from the controversies that were raised during the synod this past October. The document does not grant permission to the Amazon region to ordain married men, nor does it open a pathway to a female diaconate. Conservatives are breathing a sigh of relief—for the moment.
